What does a SHEQ Coordinator do?

As a SHEQ Coordinator, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and improving our SHEQ policy. You will work closely with various departments within Sif to ensure that our quality standards, safety requirements, and environmental objectives are met. Additionally, you will play an active role in identifying areas for improvement, ensuring a safe and healthy working environment, and taking site-specific leadership responsibility to ensure that SHEQ objectives are achieved on-site.
Support and coordinate SHEQ activities: You develop and implement SHEQ processes and procedures and ensure compliance at all levels of the organization.
Leadership responsibility on-site: You operationally guide the on-site staff to ensure compliance with SHEQ standards and ensure efficient execution of SHEQ activities.
Audits and inspections: You coordinate internal and external audits to ensure compliance with legal and company-specific requirements. You also follow up on results and implement improvement actions.
Increase safety awareness: You organize training sessions, toolbox meetings, and other awareness campaigns to promote safety and health in the workplace.
Incident investigation: You are involved in analyzing incidents and near-misses and ensure follow-up and reporting to relevant parties.
Compliance and reporting: You ensure that the organization complies with all relevant SHEQ legislation and internal standards. Additionally, you regularly report to management on the progress and performance of SHEQ initiatives.
Environmental management: You support the development and implementation of sustainability initiatives and environmentally friendly practices.
You will work at our new location at the Maavlakte in the SHEQ team. You will report directly into the SHEQ Director.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to engage at various levels within the organization.
• A proactive attitude with attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
• Experience in leadership and managing on-site teams is a plus.
• A true team player with a passion for safety, sustainability, and quality.
• A completed HBO (higher professional education) degree in a relevant field, such as Safety Management, Environmental Science, or Technical Business Administration.
• At least 5-8 years of experience in a SHEQ role within a technical or industrial environment with overall responsibility.
• Excellent knowledge of safety standards, quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001, ISO 14001), and environmental legislation.
